3 March 2023
As artificial intelligence (AI) continues to evolve, we are now on the brink of a new era where artificial humans (AH) will play an even more prominent and transformative role in our society. One notable example is the impact of language models like ChatGPT, which has recently revolutionised the way we educate, work and live.
As part of the need to integrate humanity and social science perspectives into the understanding of AI and AH and their impact, the School of Communication of Hong Kong Baptist University (HKBU) will host the “Summit of Artificial Humans and Journal Announcement”, the first AI-Human centred summit in Hong Kong, on 6 March (Monday). The summit will bring together world-renowned scholars in AI and top researchers in natural and social sciences from Canada and six Hong Kong universities to engage in a critical analysis of humanistic involvements in AI, and to highlight evolving challenges and concerns related to AI developments in the next decade.
The summit will equally serve as a launch pad for the new journal Computers in Human Behavior: Artificial Humans which will be announced as the second sister journal of Computers in Human Behavior. Professor William Cheung, Associate Vice-President (Undergraduate Programmes) and Professor at the Department of Computer Science; and Professor Celine Song, Professor at the Department of Journalism, School of Communication of HKBU, will serve as the founding editorial members.
You are cordially invited to send a reporter/photographer to cover the event.

About the new journal:
Computers in Human Behavior (CHB) is a scholarly journal dedicated to examining the use of computers from a psychological perspective. It is the world’s leading journal in its field (with a high impact factor of 8.957) published by Elsevier. The journal addresses the use of computers in psychology, psychiatry, and related disciplines as well as the psychological impact of computer use on individuals, groups, and society.
In 2020, CHB launched the Computers in Human Behavior Report (CHB Report), a sister journal which examines human computer interactions and the impact of computers on human behaviour from diverse interdisciplinary angles. The latest CHB flagship, Computers in Human Behavior: Artificial Humans, will be published within 2023 by Elsevier and will be dedicated to exploring issues in AI through social science dimensions like philosophy and ethics.
